The La Pintada mineralization is located within tuffaceous sandstones of Permo-Triassic age, exactly the same unit as is mineralized at Sierra Pintada (see Regional Geology Map). These sandstones have been strongly mineralized by early pyrite, which pyrite is then partially uranium replaced. Prior drilling concentrated on higher grade uranium mineralized zones where two mineralized beds open in different directions were interpreted (see Regional Geology Cross-Section).
The mineralization is easily detectable at the surface, with a window of this alteration existing over a 400x400 metre zone. Airbone and surficial detectors response are quite strong over essentially 90% of this surface area (see Radiometric Map), suggesting the potential of a bulk-tonnage, open pit, heap leach operation.
